We would like to invite you to our next Coffee Lab series. How “Fair” is Fair Trade Coffee? 

Join us on zoom on Wednesday, October 20th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm to learn how “fair” is fair trade coffee? . Learn how the way you spend your money can  help to change the world.  We will look more deeply into how Fair Trade  can impact farmers, families, and entire communities, and at some of shortcomings and tensions in the Fair Trade movement.

In this Coffee Lab, Dr. John Soluri from Carnegie Mellon University and Board Member of BNH will discuss how Fair Trade has evolved over the years, and its impact on more sustainable practices. In We will explore the growth of the Fair Trade, have did producers continued to benefit?  What challenges do small farmers encounter in a rapidly changing global economy? As consumers, what do all the labels matter, and how can we ensure we are making ethical choices? Is Fair Trade really a fair practice for small producers? The Coffee Lab Series consists of 5-6 events throughout the year (the third Wednesday of every other month at 6:00pm)! Why does organic matter? How can coffee help birds? What benefits does fair trade bring? Learn about the whole world within your cup of joy with Building New Hope’s new year-long project THE COFFEE LAB SERIES.
