18TH BNH BENEFIT RAFFLE​

Building New Hope is launching our 18th Annual Raffle in support  to BNH programs!

Spring has arrived in Pittsburgh bringing beautiful blossoms and the launch of Building New Hope's annual raffle!

Proceeds from our 18th Annual Raffle will support the El Porvenir Cooperative. For more than 20 years, Building New Hope has partnered with the families of El Porvenir, purchasing coffee at a fair price, providing funds for emergency relief, and supporting public health and youth education. El Porvenir has asked us for support to re-establish a nursery for coffee seedlings and to pay for repairs for the cooperative's tractor that is vital for hauling coffee over the unpaved road that marks the start of its journey to Pittsburgh.

El Porvenir's commitment to organic, shade-grown coffee has only become more important as climate change threatens Central America's major coffee-growing regions. This kind of production is only sustainable by paying fair prices for coffee and occasionally providing grants, not loans, to ensure that the needs of the community are met.

This year, we are bringing back a BNH tradition: our grand prize is a trip for two to Nido de Vida, a sustainable farm in San Miguel de los Bancos, Pichincha, Ecuador, where winners will explore the complex relationship between human well-being and nature. 

This unique experience, partnered with Nido de Vida, not only offers winners the chance to explore the beauty of Ecuador but also allows them to connect directly with BNH's mission. During their visit, they'll have the opportunity to tour a sustainable farm, experiencing firsthand the principles of sustainability and community development that lie at the heart of BNH's work. Through this immersive journey, winners will gain a deeper understanding of the impact of our initiatives and the importance of supporting sustainable practices.

Grand Prize: $1,000 cash OR roundtrip for two to Nido de Vida, a sustainable farm in San Miguel de los Bancos, Pichincha, Ecuador*

Second Prize: One-year supply of delicious organic fresh roasted New Hope coffee (1lb/month; good only for U.S. address)

Third Prize: One-year supply of delicious organic fresh roasted New Hope coffee (12oz/month; good only for U.S. address)

Other prizes: Victorinox Swiss Army Overnight Backpack, Ten Thousand Villages plant pottery

*Additional fees are not included. 30 day advance purchase necessary. Travel must be completed by May 30, 2025. Airfare value for travel from Pittsburgh to Quito or a common-rated city. Subject to availability. Blackouts days restrictions apply. Airport transportation is offered only to and from Quito. Supplemental meals or snacks and personal spending money are not included. Winners will be responsible for making hotel reservations in Quito after returning from Nido de Vida. BNH is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged belongings or personal injury. Travelers Insurance strongly suggested. Winner must be one of the travelers.
