Alternative Gifts

If you want to make a positive difference in today's world in some small way, and you want to share this effort with a good friend or those in your family, please consider an alternative gift through Building New Hope.

Any of the choices below can be your gift to someone on your shopping list... someone who is not in need of another tie or bottle of perfume, someone who would be delighted with the thought that their gift enhanced the quality of life for someone who has so much less.

Building New Hope will send a gift card to your friend or family member to announce that their gift from you helped to educate a child or paid their teacher, and gave a glimmer of hope in a place where life is so much more difficult than ours.

To purchase a gift:

  • Pay by check to Building New Hope, 106 Overton Lane, Pittsburgh PA, 15217
  • Phone 412-421-1625
  • Send email to buildnewhope@verizon.net
  • Or purchase online below by credit card

Be sure to include the name and address of the recipient, unless you want the card sent to you (along with the acknowledgement). Online, you can enter that information on the "Review Your Payment" page, using the "Add special instructions for the Merchant" line just below the item description. You can also include any special text to be sent with the gift acknowledgement.

Partnership

Coffee Plants The El Porvenir worker's cooperative produces great tasting, organic, shade-grown coffee. Building New Hope works to ensure both ecological and economic sustainablity by paying a fair trade price for the coffee and by providing grants for community projects. In order to maintain its high quality coffee, El Porvenir needs to replace its aging coffee plants with new plants.

Awareness and Outreach in the U.S. Building New Hope is firmly committed to educating people in the Unites States about the lives of Central Americans and the pressing need for education, health care and sustainable development. A gift of any amount will help us reach out to schools and universities, places of worship, small businesses and civic organizations in Pittsburgh and beyond.
